Join National Committee and help save lives because…
Six thousand terminally ill people are waiting everyday for a bone marrow transplant. While most people are ready to donate things like blood in a quick and painless procedure, dramatized television shows and misrepresented advertising has decreased the pool of registered applicants for marrow, so there is even less of a chance to find a match.
The National Committee holds an annual drive to register young men and women to donate their blood marrow. Some of the things the committee does to ensure a successful drive include:
• Fundraise through events such as poker tournaments
• Talking to businesses and organizations for support and donations
• Work closely with Be the Match Registry® (www.marrow.org) to teach others about registering
With the end of our Marrow Drive in November, the committee is open to suggestions on other issues that it can focus on. If you’ve got any particular interests feel free to talk to us. So stop by and see for yourself what National Committee is all about!
