International Committee – VIDA Warehouse

International Committee presents its first event for the semester: VIDA Warehouse. VIDA is a non-profit organization that sends medical supplies and equipment to countries in Latin America, especially in times of great need such as natural disasters and humanitarian crises. We helped sort and package medical supplies to Latin America.

Interact Committee – Cal Berkeley Rotaract Stayover (a.k.a. Interact Stayover)

Our only and largest project is the Cal Rotaract Stayover, also known as CBRS. We invite around 60 high school students from Interact Districts throughout the Bay area to spend an exciting, educational, fun-filled weekend in Berkeley. During the Stayover, Rotaract members lead high school students in a variety of workshops and panels to educate future college students on the importance of service, to teach necessary leadership skills, and to encourage meaningful friendships. We also lead the high schoolers in fun activities such as the Big C Hike, Scavenger Hunt and Skits to help bridge the gap between Rotaract and Interact, the high school branch of Rotary.

Rotary Committee – Ignitus

Ignitus is a Ted-Talks inspired event where speakers talk about the intersection between their professional lives and community service. Through their presentations students are given the opportunity to hear from people who have given back to their community through their professional and service passions. Speakers in the past have ranged from college students to professors to industry experts with fields ranging from computer science to social welfare. Every year we look for new speakers in order to adhere to a range of student interests. We want to create an event that not only inspires students to continue service in their future careers, but to also show the difference one person can make. This event is about showcasing service as a lifestyle, hopefully inspiring students to follow Rotary’s slogan “Service Above Self.”
