Spring 2020 Interns

Interns make up a large part of Cal Rotaract’s internal functions. They have worked countless hours to bring you promotional and marketing materials for club events and help increase efficiency of club operations. Whether it be the photos you get tagged in, the banners on Facebook, planning the behind the scenes of Benefit Show, or even parts of the newsletter, interns offer so much to our club, and we want to recognize them as part of this special edition of Humans of Cal Rotaract. These are some of their experiences.

Shyam Sethi | Sophomore

Major:  Public Health

About Me:

Hello! I’m Shyam and I am a sophomore studying Public Health. I love being outdoors and trying to find new ways of being productive. Some of my hobbies include dancing, running, reading, and working out. I am so grateful to have joined Cal Rotaract for the people in this supportive community and the experiences we've had together.

How would you describe your overall experience as an intern this semester?

I am really happy to have been an HR intern for getting more familiar with website editing and most importantly to have been guided by our amazing Human Relations Co-Chairs Viviana and Shannon! They made a tedious and hard to navigate system much more manageable and I really enjoyed working with them. I also looked forward to meeting more people through greeting them as part of the sign-ins we do each meeting.

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

Receiving texts from Shannon at 3:30 am about editing on Wix.

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I learned about designing surveys and editing the website and calendar. I would like to really thank Shannon and Viviana for giving me such a great time as a Spring 2020 Human Relations intern. This position takes a lot of work and does not get much recognition so I am really grateful for our Human Relations Co-Chairs for putting in the hard work. Thanks again!

Sunnie Wu |  Sophomore

Major: Intended Business Admin & Environmental Economics

About Me:

I'm down to eat 24/7 (:

How would you describe your overall experience as an intern this semester?

Rotaract is one of the most welcoming clubs I got to be familiar with. I was super disappointed it all ended early but it was a super fun semester with the little time I spent with everyone. It was one of the most beneficial opportunities to learn new skills and meet amazing people who are there to do good and have fun!

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

Every moment <3. The meetings were always funny ~ (Honestly wish I went to more events)

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I learned a majority of the process of documenting information and creating forms tailored to different events. Wouldn't have asked for any other officer to lead me! I had a lot of fun as an HR intern and would love to get to know each other more in the future 😀 <3

Kenza Zahidi | Junior

Always eager to help out and mentor, so don’t be shy to ask any questions you have!

How would you describe your overall experience as an intern this semester?

Despite my time interning was cut short. It was amazing!, because of the close knit community Cal Rotaract has. They made me feel comfortable and at home. My designing experience was also great because I learned a lot of new skills along the way and had a super fun team.

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

The Benefit show

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

My officer Emily is fantastic, she supported us and believed in our abilities throughout our time interning. Plus she’s a great friend and a gem of a person.

It was really nice! It was a privilege to know the people involved in Rotaract and work with the design team!

What was your favorite memory/funniest moment during your internship experience?

My favorite memory would be when the intern's designs were first shown at a general meeting! Was a bit sad that we couldn't make more memories with the semester being cut short though.

What did you learn about the specific office/position that you are interning for? Anything you would like to say to your officer?

I learned about the magic of Canva, as well as how much organization goes on behind the scenes for designs to be produced when they are needed. Thank you Emily for all the work you do!
